Congo (DRC) is an African country with virtually
everything to offer its visitors. Here travelers can experience
natural rain forest,diverse cultures, active volcanoes, abundant
wildlife, including both the endangered, majestic mountain
gorillas AND lowland gorillas,plus the Okapsis which are only
found in Congo. |

Despite the civil war that has
persisted long after the poor leadership of Mombutu, all regional
Heads of States are currently working together in the pursuit
of stability and economic development.
Western powers have continued to sabotage African efforts
to stabilize the region, particularly DRC, due to its rich
mineral resources. Instability makes it easier to exploit
these valuable natural resources.
Under a new policy, The Decentralization of Provinces, arrangements
are being made in the North Kivu Province, the center for
tourism in the area. There will be a specialized Tourism Protection
Force to ensure tourism in the area is safe and plentiful,
in order to benefit the local community who are, sadly, living
in dire poverty.
Nevertheless the lssue of FDRL and CNDP of
Laurent Nkunda and his forces all based in the North Kivu
Province continue to hamper government efforts to promote
tourism in the area.
The United Nations Peace Keeping Force, whose acronym is MONUC,
is trying to enforce a peaceful resolution of the current
conflicts. However, a new mandate allows them to use force,
and this might accellorate quick negotiations.
Despite the unfortunate problems outlined above, Congo (DRC)
is a place where any adveture traveller must plan to visit.

Kivu province, Bukavu town.
- Tracking mountain gorillas in Park national de virunga,
North Kivu province, Goma Town
- Climbing the active volcanoe, North Kivu province, Goma
Town
- Visiting the Okapi sactuary in Epulu Equatorial province
- Cruising on River Congo
- Tracking the Bonobos
